Fortia Insight has announced the appointment of John Siraut to the role of director of transport economics. He brings more than 40 years’ experience in transport and economic development to the business.
John is internationally recognised for his strategic insight, independent counsel and real-world impact across infrastructure policy and delivery.
His experience ranges from working on major infrastructure projects including HS2, Dublin Metrolink, Crossrail, Lower Thames Crossing and Silvertown Tunnel to groundbreaking policy initiatives such as London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone and Direct Vision Standards.
At Fortia Insight, John will lead the transport economics practice, supporting clients with strategic appraisal, business cases, investment planning and policy design across all transport modes.
John said: “I am excited to join Fortia Insight at a time when economic clarity and strategic foresight are more important than ever. I look forward to working with our clients and colleagues to deliver evidence-based solutions that drive transformational change.”
Fortia Insight Senior Director Declan Mackin said: “John’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Fortia Insight’s growth. John’s depth of experience and commitment to evidence-based policy will be invaluable as we help clients navigate complex infrastructure and policy challenges.”
John is a regular contributor to academic and industry publications, chairs the Transport Economics, Finance and Appraisal Committee at the European Transport Conference and serves on the Department for Transport’s Joint Analysis Development Panel.
The appointment comes as Fortia Insight joins the RSK Group in November 2025, merging the newly acquired strategy, economic and policy (SEP) consultancy services arm of RSM UK with economic research consultancy ERS, which joined RSK in 2022.
